5 Things to know about Washable Incontinence Underwear:
1. They are for Bladder Leaks only
Washable absorbent underwear is designed for bladder leaks only, and they are not suitable for full bladder or bowel incontinence. They are therefore a great replacement for people using disposable pads. Our incontinence maximum absorbency range can absorb 50ml per leak, and can hold 10-12 such leaks making the total absorption volume 500-600ml. For people who find that disposable pads do not work optimally on their own and who do not want to use pull up diapers, but who leak more than 50ml per time, absorbent underwear worn with a disposable pad works very well!
2. The may seem expensive, but they work out cheaper
Washable incontinence underwear are washable 200 times, which means that they work out to roughly R2 per use (this depends on which style you buy). Disposable pads can work out up to R15 per use (premium brand maxi pads). While it may seem like a large initial expense this can save up to around R5000 per year!
3. They take time to dry
This specialized underwear has a built-in absorbent pad, which means that the entire garment is washed as a single item. Their amazing absorbing ability (which is what we want!) means that they absorb water during washing, which results in a longer drying time. Drying time is very dependent on environmental conditions (season, temperature, humidity), and we recommend buying 2-4 items to allow for washing and drying.
